I know my Zoomer does 59 max on level ground on the GPS.....but didn't know how fast it would go down the Mountain.

Richard B Russell Parkway....elevation 2600 feet....A MILE LONG steep downhill mountain road......clocked at 70 by a Sportbike buddy.....was actually 68 mph on my GPS.

Not bad for a Zuma huh?

That's the same thing that happened to me when i ran the stock 05 gearing. It would hit 59-60 and not a bit faster. I hooked up a tach and found out why. It was pulling 10,300 RPM at 59 mph!! Now with the up gears...it pulls 9100 at 59 mph and then downhill....pulls to 10,300.

Short version is .....you're geared too low.

I registered a max speed of 61mph. Sowega might have gone faster with it.

I could pass Nathan cleanly at 35ish and put some distance between us. When I was pretty close to top speed, he would overtake me and leave me in the dust. The first time was on a long straight section. We were both tucked in, I got out of the tuck and he went past. On the return in the same section, I put some distance between us, stayed tucked and still was overtaken by him. I had to laugh because not only did he pass, but he was still pulling away by just a few MPH until we started up a grade.

I have decided to stick with the stock gears in my '08.
My max speed is 56mph.
My main goal is acceleration. I'm happy with 56.
My mhp is going to be higher than the average Zuma, which will make the 0-56mph that much more fun!

Snugg....even better acceleration is by useing 05 gears. I have some 05 gears you can try. CARB ready to sell yet?

I haven't received my recent order yet. Probably be another week.
What is the ration of '05 gears compaired to '08?

How much difference does that make in the real world?

(I'm not familiar with gear ratios, obviously.)

Wish somebody would explain how these different ratios are mathematically calculated. A lot of us would be interested to know.

Do all those upgear kits use 40 for the primary gear?

My modded BWs NG pulls 68mph on a flat road at top speed, and this has been confirmed by GPS yesterday. I don´t even have a speedometer, so the only way I can check speed is a TomTom GPS.
