Post Zuma failure to start
I just installed my new 70cc big bore kit and the scooter will not start. I checked everything I know and it just won't fire up. Spark is fine, gas is getting into the carb, the piston is working, there is compression. I guess I'm just asking for suggestions on what's wrong. I can take pictures if needed. I am quite new to all this so help would be greatly appreciated. The Kickstarter works fine and the engine sounds like it will turn over but just dies. (Even before the install electric starter wouldn't work).

Start with the obvious
What kit
Did you put the piston in right arrow towards exhaust port
Is the air box on
What spark plug
What carb
What jets in the carb
No exhaust leaks
What reeds
Did you check the squish
What base and head gaskets is it annoying style head or flat gasket head

Post Re: Zuma failure to start
I'm so sorry, I'm new to all this.

I bought the 70cc Polini Yasuni R kit. Here is a link: http://scootertuning.ca/en/engine-packa ... -zuma.html

I did put on the Piston arrow downwards, it ran for a while after I blocked the intake on the carb to get started but then bogged down to a stop.

I've tried with the airbox on and off

Stock carb, getting a new one soon

80 main jet

I don't think there is an exhaust leak, but I wouldn't know how to spot one.

I don't know what reeds are or what a squish is. Edit: I have the stock reeds, so metal I believe.

My head gasket is a ring with my base being a flat metal one.

Sorry for the lack of details. I could take a picture if needed.

Thank you so much for replying.

First off your Main jet is too small
If you ran it without the air box on you may have seized your engine up
If it runs with you blocking off the carb that tells you the issue too much air your are lean as fornicate

You didn’t tell me what spark plug the wrong plug will blow a hole in the top of your piston
Next you will need carbon fiber reeds
Next the power band of that pipe and that kit are way difffrent
God only knows what brand jets came with that kit but I’ll bet they aren’t tk jets
Also the rollers are going to be too heavy
