Post How can i increase speed on 2003 vino 2 stroke 50cc?
i bought my vino about 4 months ago, second owner. i have about 3700 miles on it. everything is stock and its been well maintenance. i love it! my top speed is just under 40mph on flat ground. but i want to go faster! nothing big, just wanna keep up with traffic. 45-50mph would be nice! i know there are big bore kits i can buy, but i'm wondering if anyone has any idea on how i can do any modifications on my own to help increase my speed. i'm new to this scooter thing and would like to learn!! please help me! anyone? lol :)

You could remove the kickstart gears to reduce rotating mass, but it won't give you an extreme increase in performance. Other than that, you have to spend some cash to get top speed increase. (Ex. a new pipe, big bore kit, variator, etc.)

You probably don't want more top speed when great off the line acceleration is so much more fun! (I could be wrong)

1. Try lightening up your roller weights a little to see if more zip is what you are looking for
2. If your so inclined to join in on my head-gasket removal revolution; try to remove the head gasket and see if you boost your compression and performance up a little bit. I haven't tried this on a 50 before and this might be dangerous. I really don't recommend you do it unless your wild and crazy like me. I saw a huge improvement with this mod. Just throw some permatex 2 form-a-gasket in where your head gasket once was and torque the head bolts in three successive cycles so that they all sit even. Use an X pattern for torquing the bolts down because if you don't your head will warp later on.

Hyazuma! Your direct source for wild and crazy scooter related ideas!
If you need one, just shoot me a PM. I'm sure I can come up with something. Right now I'm plugging the "ditch the head gasket idea"

swap out to lighter rollers will give you better acceleration, but a lower top speed. heavier rollers will give you slower acceleration, and a higher top speed.

try that, it's fairly inexpensive. so far, the best bang for the buck seems to be an exhaust. mine cut in half my acceleration time, and gave me a few extra mph up top, it was better all around. best $155 i've spent on the scooter. it also came with rollers and clutch springs as well!

some have tried a variator to smooth out the powerband, and give a hair more extra mph on the top, those run around $60 i think.

duck down, you look like an idiot, but its free, and you can get an extra 2-3mph out of it :)

Some people use the windshield mod to get some extra MPH (and MPG) too.
