Post acceleration issue?
I'll start with a run down: 2009 Zuma 50. Performance setup: Leo Vince ZX-R, with the clutch springs and 3 of the LV rollers and 3 stock rollers, throttle mod. I have put on about 500 miles since I did all the work and acceleration has been greatly improved over stock. side note:i'm 320lbs too. The scooter tops off a little over 40mph.

issue:
Recently the acceleration has been lacking. It is kinda boggy off the line, like it almost dies off and then goes. it doesn't grab and go like it used to. Sometimes if I rev it and then off and then rev again it will take off a little smoother. If I just full on throttle from a stop it hesitates slightly and then goes but seems like it hesitates alittle up to 30mph.

besides all this. if you are cruising at 25-30mph and then full throttle it picks right up and goes. It's only from a dead stop.
I've thought about replacing the contra spring, or maybe doing a different roller setup? or both? any ideas? I feel like its just been under so much load with me on it its like its wearing out... :/
Thank you in advance!!

It sounds like it could be a contra spring issue, but that is pretty low mileage for it to be going out. I heard the Leo rollers don't last too long. Maybe you could check those for flat spots.

You could also clean and re-grease the rear sheave.

Are these flat spots totally obvious? like should I roll them on a table? or?? What is the weight of the stock rollers so I know what to buy? I've greased that sheave.

if you are running 1/2 and 1/2 you should have a spare set to put on

yes the flat spots should stick out like a sore thumb

im not a big fan of mixing when the weights are more then .5 gram diffrent
as one tends to slide insteaf of roll

if you are at 1/2 and 1/2 then order a proper set of 5.5 gram rollers
order a new set of medium clutch springs
stock is 6.9 and leo are 4.3

i dont think its a contra issue as it only happens on inital take off that would tell me clutch springs
and the leos are know to go bad fast

Wow I wasn't aware that they were so far apart. So that does make sense. I will order that today.
What would cause the the little springs to go bad? What prevents a new set from going bad just as quick if they are actually bad? Should I just go ahead and get a tougher clutch spring to have the same stuff through out? Like a 1.5k rpm contra, springs. and then do the 5.5 gram roller set.

For reference. The stock rollers in my 2009 weighed out to 7.5 grams each.

Mines were 7.5 in my 09 also. I have read others saying theirs were 7 grams though.

Post Re: acceleration issue?
yeah the rollers are all over the place on the zuma

some came as light as 6.0 stock

the leo springs are just crap that is why they wear out fast

i have had pretty good luck with the ncy medium springs lasting 7000 miles

heat is basicly there enemy and stock there is no venting in the belt cover but its funny just about all the cheap clones vent the trans but yamaha doesnt

so you may want to get a set of 5.5 and 6.0 rollers and see what is better

Forgot to update this post. I pulled it all apart and rolled the rollers on my table and yep they have flat spots. Thanx for the help. I'm just amazed that they flat spotted in 400-500 miles.

Not sure yet. The new parts haven't come yet. I will update as soon as I get back together.
