This is old stuff. For $10 you can buy a single-cable throttle tube that works way better.

Just go to ebay and search for "motion pro throttle tube cr80f"

This isn't brain surgery, but Nifty50 suggested I post these pix in case they're helpful. The throttle cable goes in the half of the handlebar "switch" that faces forward (the one with the mirror).

In the other half I cut a roughly 1' section of cable with a cable stop to prevent the throttle from going forward. I'll probably add a right angle tube for the "dead cable" to smooth it out, but it's not 100% necessary. Obviously this cable gets trimmed and tucked into the cable bundle underneath the plastic.

Also, I used bolt cutters to cut the cable "insulation."

Simple and effective, and once trimmed and tucked away, effectively "invisible"...

ANY throttle stop is better than no stop at all.

Thanks Nick.

I had another thought: gasket goop instead of the right-angle tube. As long as the cable sleeve doesn't move when you twist the throttle, you don't need the tube.

Post Re: Conversion to single throttle cable (handlebar side)
i bought the kit from spmotostore for this application. it involves a metal stopper that you screw into your handle bar, and a special bar end that you slide on under the grip that butts up against the stopper. haven't installed it yet but it seems like a nice clean way to convert it to a single cable set up. :)

While I did put in a right-angle metal tube just for elegance (I had an extra one), I noticed something obvious today: the cable sleeve can't move if you use a cable tie to attach it to the bundle of other cables. Duh.

Post Re: Conversion to single throttle cable (handlebar side)
well there is a much easier way
yes its a bit more expensive but it works great
get the motion pro throttle cable
and a new single cable throttle tube
some thing like this
http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_c ... Id=&mmyId=
then you can get rid of both oe cables and just run the new motion pro cable and you dont have to worry about the throttle turning over on you

i must be missing something - how does that little throttle tube stob the throttle from going both directions?

thanks!

Post Re: Conversion to single throttle cable (handlebar side)
My mechanic has my zuma 50cc and says the singlle throttle cable will not reach from the carb up to the throttle tube. I called team calamari to see if they gave me the wrong cable and of course they didn't. So I told my mechanic to use the path of least resistance. He's also working on my carb and hasn't gotten that tuned properly either but ill save that for another discussion. Can anyone shed some light? I'm not really tech savvy otherwise I would have done the work myself. Feel free to post pics or even vids if available. Thanx in advance!
