Post Faded plastic
My plastic panels have been sun faded and stained from spilling gas on them. What's everybody doing to restore them to some sort of acceptable appearance? And before you say bumper black...........that don't work anymore. Way beyond that.

I carry armor all wipes in my trunk for the rare occasion I spill gas
so I can wipe it up fast
because it instantly dries white

my bike lives inside a garage covered, is 5 years old and still decent black plastics
I keep silicone spray on them, thats the only thing I use on my entire bike
I dont even wash it

I would just drop the money on new black plastics, and then try to keep those as new as possible
if your bike stays outside then buy a bike cover
and find some product to treat your new plastics, so they will last much longer over time

all the stuff you could put on them to turn it back to black usually lasts a couple days, or hours depending on how bad it is
because that dried out plastic just sucks in any grease or oil you put on it

Post Re: Faded plastic
I've used a product called "forever black" on my car that dyes the plastic and actually lasted a good 2.5 or 3 years before i got some more of it. It works really well for plastics but i would think it might be hard to work with for a zuma floorboard with all the different contours/grooves it has... worth a shot - its just over $10 and stays pretty durable.

Make sure to do multiple coats... i probably did 5-6 this last go around with my car and it turned out much more even than the time before where i probably did 3 coats.

From a car forum that i found it on that has a good before/after comparison

Post Re: Faded plastic
Sadly my 2009 Zuma 125 that I just bought used December 2016 was stored in a schools maintenance garage and was never covered once, needless to say that none of my black plastic was black anymore. Not a single "get black back" product worked on it. All just scams for $12 to $20... Who wants armor-all covering everything? The floor deck would feel like a sheet of ice! From what I could tell my bike was being used as a work horse and bags of salt were even being hauled with it at times. So on top of being severely faded, all of my inner black plastic was really scratched up. I opted to paint everything with satin black rustoleum spray paint. Some parts, like the headlight bezel surrounding the head lights for example required a coat of 2X primer before the satin black would properly lay down. I highly recommend the 2X rustoleum grey primer before painting anything plastic, all of my body panels were primed with 2X before I laid the paint and clear coat down. My black plastic looks great now and water just beads right off it at the wash. Notice the color difference on the bottom plastic since it has not been painted yet.

This stuff right here. I think they actually don't have the green can anymore but if you can find one, get it.

Try using 303 protectant. It won't make the plastics really black but it offers UV protection.
