I had to put metal clamps on the Race & Pro setup. I kept blowing the Silencer hose off.

I used the Stainless CV boot clamps. There tiny. I was never impressed with the silencer mounting on any of the S-6 pipes.
The Yasuni's have a nice setup.

So as some of you know I switched to a stage6 race bbk and a 19mm carb recently. After a ton of tuning I hit my new top speed record of 69.8 mph. But I couldn't stop feeling there was still a little more left in it. I tried every different carb and trans set up I could come up with, with no luck. So as a last ditch effort I pulled of the piece of gorilla tape that was covering the hole in the airbox from the emission crap that came OEM. Bingo! I must of reached the limit of what the airbox could flow. It revs a full 200 rpm more now and pulls like a freight train.

Since that little test I've repluged the hole as it's on the wrong side of the airbox, and drilled a 3/4 inch hole on the correct side. Before this little mod it would do 11,600rpm full tuck WOT. Now it will do 11,800 rpm full tuck! Hello 70+ mph :hellyeah:

Cruising around town the CHT ranges between 260-300. On longer WOT runs the highest I've seen is 360.

Mr Pig:
I used 4 of these, on the dirty side of the Airfilter box, Actually they were there already. I just opened them up. You need to glue, the foam in or it sill eventually get sucked out.

The Vent's and opening up the stock intake manifold, made an improvement in top RPM. You will need to re-tune the Carburetion, after adding Vent's. I only had to upsize the main.

If you were to advise on, adding advance. How say you, Mr Pig:

Would you recommend it? How much advance did you add? Double the OE bolt width? Did you see any temp increase worth mentioning?
Did you, add any vents increasing air flow to the air box?

Ya I advanced it double the OE bolt with, so whatever that is... My temps were about 10-15 degrees hotter, so I up jetted one size on the main ( probably didn't have to ) I already had a couple vents in my air box, so I'm good on airflow for the time being. Would I recommend it? Hell ya, it's free power and super easy to do. My bike is super crisp now, plus if you don't like it , it takes two seconds to put it back to stock. I think the question is, why wouldn't you do it?

Okay, someone please explain what I'm getting wrong.

The reason you advance the timing is that you're revving really high and you need the spark earlier to catch the piston when it's all the way up and compressing the charge the most, right?

So surely the reason not to advance is if you're running a set-up that doesn't rev as high, no?

Or is it the other way around - by advancing the timing you get the revs up?

I know you want the timing faster when you rev higher, and that some CDIs do that. Is that part of the Zuma's program?

So here's how I understand it:

The CDI compensates for the latency between spark and ignition on the compression stroke. But when you get to higher RPMs, the CDI as it is programmed for the stock cylinder is a little slow to work with the spark/ignition latency as efficiently as possible. So if you advance the timing, you're tricking the CDI into firing a little sooner on the compression stroke so that the plug fires a little sooner. And the plug needs to fire a little sooner because the duration of the compression stroke becomes so short when you get into those high RPMs.

I don't know if that's just right, but that's how it makes sense in my head.

Plus, I'd wager the stock CDI is pretty tame. I have wondered how much a little advance from one of those offset woodruff keys would work.

If you're right then I'm right, because that's what I'm saying.

To me the offset woodruff key makes no sense, because you're locked into only one position. I'd just elongate the holes in the stator and give it a twist. This is all trial and error anyway, so the number of degrees seems irrelevant.
