how many slow flashes and how many fast flashes
the slow is the 10 spot
and fast is the 1 spot

so 2 slow and 8 fast would be 28

being you say it wont start and it has 10 flashes im going to take a stab without seeing it but it sounds like code 19
that would be broken or discontected sidestand lead to the ecu

ok figured it out. ..... it was the code for the speedo cable. it loosened up on the wheel somehow and wasn't registering i guess .... anyways, i screwed it back in and the scooter starts up fine now.

but the light is still on .. solid orange. how do i clear this? thanks

there is a trick to reset the computer, I think its key ignition on and off 3 times within 3 seconds or something you know when you hear the pump come on

if not take the wire off battery for a few minutes, then try that reset trick

The speed sensor would have thrown a code 42. And it would NOT have held you out from starting.

The solid light should clear by itself if the problem has gone away, but the code will still flash for several ignition cycles if ignition is on, but engine is not running.

Try turning the ignition on and off rapidly like 5 times and see if it clears.

Do this - just turn on the ignition till the fuel pump comes on and wait till the light starts flashing. It should be kinda like Morse code. The long flashes signify units of 10 and the short flashes signify units of 1. So, 4 long flashes, followed by 2 short flashes would mean a code 42.

long-long-long-long.short.short = 42

Then we will be able to determine what the fault was.

plus 4 and 2 only adds up to 6 flashes

i would still be worried about something being haywire with the side stand switch
hate to see it cut out on you in the middle of no where

Post Re: 09 ZUMA 125 ENGINE LIGHT
ok .. it was the speedo cable because all i did was screw it back into the wheel tight, and the scooter started up and the light will not flash anymore.

NOW ever since that was fixed, ill turn the key ON, the orange engine light comes on immediately and stays solid for a second or two until the fuel pump finishes priming. The orange light goes out when the fuel pump stops priming ..... but then i hit the start button to start it, and the scooter starts up ..and when the scooter starts up the light comes back on and stays on solid. The scooter runs/rides fine .. but the light just stays on solid.

i tried turning ignition on and off several times quickly .. and sometimes i waited 2 seconds in between cycles, and it still comes on. I had battery disconnected and re-connected, but still stays solid. wtf

light coming on with key is normal, but staying after start on you have something else wrong

Instead of starting the engine when the light goes off, wait a few seconds and see if it starts flashing. If you have a solid light on while the engine is running - there is a problem and it should be trapped in the ECU's memory.

If there is no flashing, your ECU might be faulty. I would stop by the dealer with it so they can plug in the diagnostic tool. I'm pretty sure the ECU would fall under the emissions warranty even if your regular warranty has expired.
