Post Slides too Heavy or too Light?
Just put in 11g Dr. Pulley sliders into my bike. I believe I went too heavy but I wanted to get an opinion before I order some additional ones.

My top speed on level ground with no wind has increase by 5 miles an hour as long as I tuck, unfortunately without tucking, wind or any sort of hill I lost 5 mph. Acceleration from 0-45 is solid but creeps up the rest of the way.

I also accidentally left the shim out when I installed them but will be putting it back in as soon as I get back to the garage.

Or would I benefit in a stiffer contra spring?

I believe the stock rollers are 12 grams if I'm not mistaken.

Stock rollers on a zuma 125 are all 12g giving you a total 72 grams.

If you are all 11g you are at 6x 11 = 66 grams. :)

If you are missing your top end you will need to up the grams ( put in heavier rollers). Your rollers allow the belt to ride up higher toward the outsides of your variator. A simple way to check if your belt it riding high enough up the wall of your variator is a simple sharpie marker test. just mark the walls of your inner most wall of your variator with a couple of lines. take the bike for a run and see how high up the variator your marker lines have been removed from the belt. If you still see about half an inch or more of the sharpie line on the variator, you need more weight to allow the belt to climb higher up the variator wall. you dont want to belt to run to high up the wall either so if you see only a 1/4th to 1/8th of an inch of marker left on the vairator you may need to decrease the grams of the rollers to have a " top end / high speed " tune. Lighter rollers in contrast will allow for you to pull off the line much quicker but you wont be able to attain high speeds. your torque spring can help the "faster off the line sensation". The higher the number of rpm rating, example a 1500rpm, the greater the pull off the line will be from 0 to 45 mph , but the greater drop of top end speeds will be. say you have a 1000rpm torque spring. your pull of the line will be less but when you are up at your top end speed the bikes clutch and variotor wont have to fight as much to hold a top end speed. Hope this helps. Holler if you have questions or something isnt clear. take care, best of luck.

So I am getting up to top speed with the sliders even more than I had before but after 45 mph it will loose speed easier due to hills or wind and acceleration deteriorates at that point. My acceleration is good up to 45 so I'm wondering if I should just change to a 1000k spring so it doesn't have to fight as hard.

Your going to chase your tail like most of us did trying to eek out small percentages of power to speed. Most of the guys who were on here way before me can testify its best to just get a 155bbk of you are looking for more power. its a relativly easy switch out, most can do on there own..... that will bring you true results. there is plenty of stuff you can do to manipulate your setup... but if you want to feel a jump. its best to just dive in and go from 125 to 155cc its a few parts and it will make the most dramatic change to the bikes speed and power. the 125 piston is just about the same diamiter of a silver dollar. give or take ... so just imagine, that little butt piston is whats getting your butt around town. Pro's to keeping your bike at 125cc. not as loud, gas milage is outstanding, fun to putz around on and very little maintenance is required. Con to the 125cc. not the kind of power you get from a larger cc... 155cc or higher is going to start cutting in on mpg. but you do get a little more zip. so we can work on small tweeks to get you to a little better performance but you will see the most performance change with a 155cc or bigger. they have a very stable 218cc setup that will lift the front end off the ground with you not trying. 100mph. 60 mph while you sleep on the bike. just some stuff to think about. I would say if you want to put a little money into the bike and see a little change that you can manipulate get a after market variator. it will have a " two gear" system to it. one with a set of slots designed for take off's and one with a set of slots designed for top end use. you can put different rollers in each slot say 9g rollers in the " take off" ramps and 11g rollers in the " top end " ramps. you can see a little change in performance. I haven't checked prices for the tst variator lately. k. looked it up. tst cvt is $100.00 shipped to your door. usually comes with free roller's. with Chris at http://www.rcscooters.com/transmission-c1e2e there are plenty of other companies you can hunt up to get these items as well. best of luck.

After putting the spacer back in that helped the hill and wind drag quite a bit. Still don't think I have as much rpm as I should but the only indication of that is that I am not able to hit the rev limiter any longer like I was able to on the stock rollers. Other than that everything is working as well as I would want it to. Probably room to tweak but not needed.
