Post Vibrations and high rev when slowing down and other advice!
Hey guys. I just bought a 2012 Zuma 125 a few weeks ago with 15k miles for $1500. (Not sure if a good deal or not please let me know) since buying it I've found a few problems. When idling it runs a little rough with some vibration (doesn't feel as bad if I hold down rear brake). I've had problems starting it immediately after it's been running (although I didn't pull out the key) this happened twice. Also while slowing down if I let off the throttle it sounds like it goes to a pretty low rpm then blips a little like a small hop. Any suggestions on what to do or what needs to be done?

It came with the yoshimura exhaust and the headlight mod. Hasn't left me stranded and hoping it won't. What do y'all think about the mileage?

First thing I did was change the oil. Pump prem gas and put an oz of seafoam.

Oh! There also seems to be a slight hesitation when first giving it gas. Noticeable though and goes away more when it's well warmed up. The crankcase is also missing a few bolts.

Sorry I'm a total newb and just looking for any help I can get!

I'm no expert, but I would probably start by checking out the belt inside of the CVT case. Check for signs of wear and replace if needed. Also, check out CVT and clutch and see if they are stock or aftermarket.

I think that is a good price. I paid 2400 for mine in 2012 with 4k on it.

all of your symptoms sound like clutch and belt. I would do as the previous post suggested. If it were me and i wanted to keep it stock. i would for sure contact Chris with Rc scooters, get a tst, cvt, and then get a datona belt so you know you wont get stranded anywhere. Best of luck.

I have Chris's contact info listed on my profile.

You will see a difference with the Tst cvt.

edit: Try the 1000 rpm spring to. The stock spring is about 800 rpm and you can get more torque and power with the 1000rpm spring.

The biggest problem for me has been after I ride it, it won't start up immediately. It's almost as if I have one try and it'll sound kinda squealish. And if I don't fully turn it over it doesn't start for a while. So far I've had to wait 20 mins before starting it up again.

Here is a video of what happena when I try to start it up soon after riding. Just makes a clicking noise. Any idea what is wrong?

Doesn't seem like the engine is even cranking over. I would probably start by getting the battery tested.

just saw video. Would say try to jump it from a car battery or a jumper box. if it turns you know for sure its battery. if no turn still. your starter needs replaced.

$120 for a high torque starter with chris. Shipped.

$35 to 60 for a used or stock one on ebay

$69 plus shipping with online OEM parts house.

If you ever want to upgrade to the 155 bbk or higher the high toruque starter is a must.

ty ty .

I have an oversized battery in my scoot. I cut out plastics to make space for a battery for a 250cc ninja.

If the bike is running funky like its not getting juice while you ride... it could be the magneto is not providing enough spark to the stytem. Your recharge wont show up when the engine is just at idle, you must be up over " i beleive 35 mph" for long periods of time to recharge battery. So if you are on long rides and the bike is running fine, but the battery is getting robbed of charge. you know its the battery, which needs to be replaced.

My first step would be to try to jump the bike off a car battery. If it turns over easy, you know its a battery issue.

If " new " battery loses charge say in, 3 weeks or so.... you know magneto isnt working properly.

let us know how it goes.

lambo, out

If I wait like 20 mins it'll start up fine. It just happens when trying to start it up soon after riding. I will try to post another video soon!

So this is my stopping it after driving it home. If I wait a while it'll work no problems though

It isn't the battery like I previously thought. I'm thinking it might be a fuel issue instead of electrical. I think I would pull the spark plug and see if it looks normal or not. https://www.ngksparkplugs.com/about-ngk ... spark-plug
