1980 Honda express Sr won't start
So I bought my girlfriend a little blue and white Honda express. The thing is cute but it has an oil leak and if it sits for a couple of days it takes 20-30 kicks to get going...anyways I did an oil pump delete and I cleaned the carb and it fired right up? I waited two days and tried starting it any it sucked.... Not sure where to start for replacing stuff and getting it working. Any advice would be great!

I'm gonna assume that's got a manual choke...everything there working properly? Could be spark plug like Zumike said, too.

The choke on these things is super super weird. I want to delete the choke but I'm not entirely sure how. I think it would be awesome to have a different carb that has a manual choke...

Does that mean it's got an auto-choke? Have you checked that it's working like it should?

Re: 1980 Honda express Sr won't start
it has some sort of auto choke.. I have no idea how it works, I really want to just put a different carb on that has a manual choke and get rid of all the tubes... When i tear it down again ill let you know! and take pictures!!

Re: 1980 Honda express Sr won't start
That's one thing I thought I would miss before I started rebuilding...the ease of the autochoke. Now that I've got manual choke and it starts first kick, I don't miss it even a little bit.

Re: 1980 Honda express Sr won't start
So the only way to get this thing to manual choke would be to get a new carb correct?

Re: 1980 Honda express Sr won't start
It probably depends on the carb...any info on what kind it is? Or the manufacturer?

Re: 1980 Honda express Sr won't start
Its a vacuum system controlled by the cylinder head temp. You can use regular 3/16 ball valve to manually control it. Start by replacing all the fuel and air lines.
