Post DIY vinyl seat!
Pulled from my post on TR, but could help with someone here :)

So, been looking for a replacement seat for a few weeks, no ones selling. Fine I'll make my own! Here's a short write-up with pictures

Tools:
Staple gun (14$ at princess auto)
Saw (7$ at rona)
120grit sandpaper (4$ at rona)
Total : 25$ (not needed if you have them already ;D)

Materials:
1 square meter of marine black vinyl (30$ at local fabric shop) ((This is enough to do 4 seats, best to purchase a quarter meter to save cash)
1 wood shelf (10$ from rona)
1 Roll of 2 inch foam (10$ from the misc bin from a local foam mattress shop)

Cut the board down to about 15"
Shave a 1inch diagonals of each rear corner and 2^1/2 inch diagonals off front corners
Sand all edges until smooth (soft wood makes this easy, a router/bench grinder would make it easier!)
Cut 2(or 3 depending on how thick you want it) sections of foam identical to the board
cut a quarter meter squared of vinyl
fold the edges and staple one side to the bottom of the board (make sure all staples go through a folded section of vinyl for strength
stand of the seat with foam and do second side
start cutting and stapling until your happy with corners (its really just trial and error)

and finally wonder why you put yourself through such a hellish process in the first place and cry yourself to sleep

In the end it didn't turn out to bad, figured I'd post up here for anyone who could use a quick write up Also mine has two sections of not fully compressed foam so it air wooshes when you sit and its slightly amusing lmao.

Pictchas!

edit: Id suggest a board a bit thinner in width then what i used. Unless ya want a nice cushy couch like mine :)

Thanks for posting the DIY ... I personally put more value (more respect) into your mod ...

than spending $$ HUNDREDS $$ for a saddle that just isn't what it should be ... CUSTOM !!

but

you guys really need to get onboard WITH STUDS !!

Yeah ... that's funny !! Really funny !!

I gotta say ... Tijuana !!

When we were living in Bonita I had a '72 Honda Civic Sedan with a full roll cage.

Lots of guys were taking cars, trucks and whatever down to the upholstery shops down south.

I had two fiberglass front buckets made & covered. And the roll cage was all leather wrapped.

What happened ?? No one does upholstery, anymore ??

yeah the folds are pretty big, but im not to worried, i just wanted something functional that wasn't a duct tape cover :P

I would have used heat to stretch it but i don't have a heat gun and I'm moving 2 provinces away next month and i don't wanna add to the dookie i have to move.
