Post The quest for Ice Water
After riding around in 3 figure temperatures today I didnt get sweaty, but I did get thirsty.

So the problem that I'm facing (I didnt have it last year...) is how do you drink out of a bottle with a full face helmet on? My idea so far is to take a water bottle (dasani 20oz or that size bottle) Drill a hole in the cap, and put a straw (the kind with the bendy tips) through the hole. Then put some silicone around that to seal.

What say you?

(The reason I didnt have the problem last year is that I was wearing a half helmet. Honestly though, when its 3 figure (over 100) temperature wind blowing on your face its cooler to wear a FF. I am probably going to get a tinted visor though, the clear one lets heat through the front)

Best solution, get a Camelbak water hydration system. http://www.camelbak.com/index.cfm I have a few of these and use them on everything from Biking, ATV riding, Motocross, Jet Skiing and anything else where I need to be hydrated. You just fill the bag with your favorite beverage and put it on like a back pack. Then when you get thirsty just put the hose up under your helmet and bang instant refreshment. If you don't have one of these then I highly suggest one.

Great, idea. can you get those things with a built in backpack? I may need to be able to use a backpack, in which case I coudl see that interfering.

Also, it's not for long haul stuff. Just cruising around in town. How much are those things...? less than $20?

They do make them with small and large back packs. They can be a little pricey but well worth the $$$. Check out their site :http://www.camelbak.com/index.cfm

you can also just buy the bladder. Throw some ice in and throw it in with the rest of your stuff in your backpack and call it good. platypus makes a very versatile bladder if you do any backpacking in addition to riding. Compacts super small when empty.

I thought about this today coming home from the dealership. Then I remembered I bought a Military Camelbak.

If you want a cheap solution, and dont mind waiting a bit here is what I did. I sniped a military backpack styled camelback like this for around $12 bucks with shipping.

Yes, you can get them that cheap but get the bag used, then buy the bladder hose, and bite valve separately. Mine was intentionally bought for a bug out bag and for hiking but now I am glad I got the one I got for durability purposes. Bladders for them are $10 from China. Takes about 2 weeks or 10 -14 business days to get it usually.

So for about $22 you can have a military spec camelbak. Which is a steal since if you bailed with it on, chances are its still going to work fine. But lets hope none of us actually have to follow up on that one.

OK ... you wouldn't want to just use the cupholder and take an 8 oz. beverage ??

How much does that camelback hold and what are you going to put in it ... WATER !!
Myself ( since we last thought about of this one 3 1/2 years ago ) ... I'll carry a BOTA BAG !!
Maybe two.

My camelbak will hold 3L. I think 100oz. But like I said, I didnt intentionally buy it for scooterr use, it was for a 3 day Bug out Bag. (which its only part of the liquids I would be carrying.)

The solution I had by far is the cheapest for durability reasons, unless you can find something else friends. I know the ACU camo isnt pretty to most, but the dookie is solid. Built like a tank. Ill be using mine when the weather permits it. Getting cold around my parts. Winter is coming.
