Post 04 Zuma 50->70cc "Budget" Upgrade
Long time reader, first time poster. This site has been invaluable over the last few years, but this is the first time I have felt the "need" to post and get some insight. While its all opinion, I still value it.

I have a 14,1xx mile 04 Zuma 50 and am looking to go to 70cc. I recently moved to phoenix and this is now my daily driver for 20-30miles daily. Roads are regularly 45/50 and Id like to keep pace (37 aint cutting it). I am trying to keep the upgrade to >500$, but its not a firm number. Given the age and abuse I have put this thing through over last 8k miles I know I should probably change a few more parts than just to the motor (suspension, brakes, magneto, etc).

I have read on here the Athena is the BBK to go with. Trying to figure out what else should be done to obtain that 45/50mph (rollers, variators, springs, gears, etc). I'm 6'2, 200#. It is my daily driver so need something reliable as well. Cant afford to have it breakdown on me. If at possible I'd like to stay stock pipe so I can be a ninja out there, but certainly no requirement. On that note, the idiot I bought this from has the 06+ pipe on it. I have crimped the airbox return on it, but haven't had a chance to weld it shut.

Additional Questions:
1) Will stock brakes work at increased speeds
2) Whats the life expectancy of suspension when ridden primarily on rough roads over 8k miles and magneto wear on dual headlight mod
3) Read A LOT about jet sizes and carb sizes, which would deliver best performance and reliability? (ive read 84 or 92 jet and 19mm carb)
4) Will this summer heat (110+) cause any issues?
5) Best place to purchase all these parts. I'm a fan of using a sponsors website.

Appreciate the help

500 budget if you do the work yourself .
Mostly stock, money where it counts most

BBK more power top to bottom 170 buck for carb jets and bbk
prefer cast iron so can keep stock carb need jets most use a 82 or 84 main and some upgradde pilot to 46
20 bucks through dealer .
cast iron bbk top performance trophy or malossi cast iron 150 bucks
lots of life 10,000 miles or more .

PIPE to increase power down low and little top end 140 bucks
for less extensive tuning i prefer the street pipe malossi wild lion just adjusted clutch springs with malossi white it is close to stock sound.

UPGEAR 90 bucks
14/42 athena 30 % upgrade over stock highest top end gear you can run a tad less acceleration
13/44 polini 20 % upgrade over stock

That puts you at under 400 for the big 3 and you have room if you need to to upgrade carb or suspension

Results this is my build path
bbk and pipe will have me upper 40's
the gears will put me in mid 50's

I have been over 50 going down hill and brakes have held up well.

Plenty of Zuma guys run out west in the heat . I change my jets lower in summer. I run my zuma from 35 degrees to 110 degrees throughout the year.

I have used with good results Drow Sports out of California ,Scooter Parts of North Carolina ,Scootertuning out of Canada for my various scooter builds .
I used to build Eton Beamers now i am on to Zumas and Vinos so i have used these guys plenty.
I have found it is best to have more than one supplier stocks run low .
