Post 2001 Zuma 50cc
Hey All First Zuma so please bear with me lol. Just bought my 01 pre bug. 5500 miles on it ran great first 3 days. Wife took it for a ride and after about 2 miles in it died. Started right back up then died when hitting the throttle. Now wont start at all and i also now see there is an oil leak due to spot on the garage floor. I havent had a chance to look at it yet but just curious where i should maybe start? Previous owner did fill the oil tank like to the very top i noticed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What does the plug look like is it black brown or white ?
Track down oil leak is it from the fan the carb or exhaust ?

Is the oil leak near the exhaust side of the scooter underneath the fan cover? If yes, then what probably has happened is that your oil feed tube has become brittle over age and has broken off. Due to a lack of lubrication entering the piston area, the piston isnt being lubricated and is overheating very very quickly causing the piston to expand and seizing the engine. You can turn the scooter back on after the piston has cooled down but the same issue will keep re-occurring. You will need to buy a new oil feed tube and replace it yourself; shouldn't be too hard.

The oil tube is behind the fan shroud and you'll see one hose sitting behind the fan looking thing. Check to see if that has fallen apart to age. You will need to remove the oil tube with some needle nose pliers both from the autlube pump and the carburretor. Then just cut a new oil feed tube to size and slot it in. You will need to run some through the tube so that it is does allow instant lubrication once the scooter starts up. Make sure to also get oil tubing that is made for OIL and FUEL. If you get silicone tubing or anything else that isnt resistant, the oil will just eat away at it and you'll end up with a clogged carburettor or even worse.

Here is the service manual to refer to:
http://www.zumaforums.net/prebugservice.pdf

refer to pages:
C-16 -> AUTOLUBE PUMP ASSEMBLY -> Oil delivery Hose (11)
D-12 -> OIL HOSE (2)

Also since it has seized twice now I think your piston is messed. You'll probably want to consider replacing the piston and rings or just upgrade to a 70cc BBK. Here is what mine looked like after mine seized almost 3 times https://preview.redd.it/3y3np0stwcu21.j ... a260b76793

Tassy Just rebuilt his so he has a good handle on how to fix .

These scoots are not that hard to work on .
So take your time and just keep asking questions .
On 2 strokes the spark plug is your number one indicator of health of your tune .

Wow thank you guys for all your help. I hope to get started on it tom while im on vacation. I will double check but oil is leaking over the belt cover as i see a few spots where it has run down the case and also there is a spot on my garage floor roughly in the middle of the scoot so prolly from the carb i assume. Seriously thank you guys and i will start with checking the plug and confirming where the leaks are from and update this post.

Glad to help
If the oil is coming from up high and then spilling all over
The oil might be because he overfilled it and it is leaking from the oil sensor .
This is a common mistake and a easy fix .
Jaason3814 just fixed his in the last month you can search his thread he used shrink wrap and rtv sealnt to fix it

The spark plug is pretty easy to access if you take off the main fairing; otherwise it'll be a real struggle trying to get your hand and spanner through the small cutout near the foot rest and trying to remove it like that.

Gotcha! Thank you! -UPDATE - All i had time for today was to charge the battery and see if it would start which with choke wide opened it fired right up did seem to idle a lil rough and like when it died on my wife once i hit the throttle a bit it did die. I assume the oil leak that suddenly developed is causing the rough idle and causing it to die once i hit the throttle cause its to lean now due to oil leak? I will dive into it tom am. As suggested previously probably need to confirm where oil leak is from and go from there.

If your scoots lean it doesn't die like that .
Sounds like a fouled plug .
The spark cant fight through the gunk .
How does it sound buh buh buh or zing zing zing
Lean sounds zingy
rich sounds deep
